Around 1000 workers from New Way Shoe factory situated in Hlaing Thayar Industrial Zone (4) went on strike due to insufficient income.

On 29th January 2014 nearly 1000 workers for New Way Shoe factory ( Industrial Zone 4 Hlaing Thayar) went on Strike due to insufficient income, which at present is Kyats 6,0000 and workers prefer to raise 20,000 kyat more, for better living condition, according to a leading worker Kyaw Zayar,

He expressed, “ The main issue is we cannot survive. Annual increment is only 2,000 kyat  which is not enough for  our Living. A Daily wage worker earn around 60,000 Kyats a month and a permanent worker earns  around 80,000 kyat. The factory management proposed the workers with 6,000 kyats increment  but the worker have demanded for a 20000 kyats increment.
